GOOD SEAKEEPING PERFORMANCE OF THE NEW 90 m STERN TRAWLER

Last week, seakeeping test were carried for the new 90 m stern trawler designed on the ARALFUTUR project. The test included the successful validation of the CFD simulation done by VICUS and included acceleration and added resistance in waves among other different evaluation. CEHIPAR model basin was in charge of the testing and manufacturing of the 1/25 scale model.
The ship will be available in two propulsive configurations:
– Single screw CPP with twin shaft variable speed generators, these electrical machines can also act as booster motors or take home drive.
– Twin skeg propulsion with CPP and same generator type.
Both configuration featured an optimized hull efficiency in terms of thrust deduction and wake field during free run and trawling. For this optimization several self propulsion simulations with different stern, nozzle and rudder arrangements have been done.
More information on this project can be found on the case study for this ship, but also the newspapers echoed this information.
