Scope of work:
The aim of this project was to design a wake adapted propeller for the construction 734 of Armon Navia shipyard. The characteristics of this ferry ship called “Mestre SIMAO” are: Lpp = 40 m, B = 3.1m and Tproject = 10.75 m. Its classification society is Bureau Veritas.
The different steps of this project are the following:

  • Wake field computation and analysis at design speed
  • Wake adapted and low vibrations propeller design at design condition
  • Measurements assistance

Results:
As a result of this project, it was obtained an optimized propeller adapted to the wake of the vessel. The required speed by the ship-owner was reached during sea trials with no complaints of the propeller.
The wake adapted fixed pitch propeller of 2260 mm diameter has five blades and is made of Cu Ni Al material. Its weight is around 1145 kg. It was designed for a power of 2240kW and a propeller rotation rate of 327 rpm.
