METHODOLOGY:
Recently it was carried out a trim optimization for three different series of 38,000 m3 LPG tankers from shipowner EXMAR.
After the analysis of the data provided by the company, in which are included hull and ship operational data, it is proposed to the client a study comprising a matrix with 150 computations which will cover the whole ship operational scenarios. Calculations were performed with viscous CFD codes, allowing the ship to sink and trim freely.
Finally, the client receives the tabulated results from all the different velocity, trim and draught cases. The optimum points are identified and it is also provided an excel spreadsheet that helps to interpolate between values inside of the matrix limits.
