Last Thursday, the presentation of the LNG Pack project was held in Narón; the aim of this project is the design of a gas tank with membrane technology that could be used both in smaller vessels than the ones that are currently using this technology, and in satellite plants. The adaptation of this technology would also allow the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in ships currently using conventional fuels and that wish to adapt to these fuels, either because of their price or because of the environmental advantages in terms of emission reductions.
Besides VICUSdt, Gabadi – leader of the consortium-, NEO-CH4 Galicia and Inova Labs, have joined forces in this project.
Within the planned activities, VICUSdt will mainly collaborate with the study of the sloshing phenomena and the dynamic structural calculation of the membrane tank by means of finite elements.
LNG Prototype Pack initiative is funded by the Axencia Galega de Innovación (GAIN) through the Conecta Pyme program, with funds from Feder and the Ministry of Industry.
