Scope of work:
- Definition of the sea trials to be performed (protocol)
- Measurements onboard:
o Propulsive power (torque and rpms)
o Cylinders pressure and temperature
o Speed
o Others (engine load indication, draughts, etc.)
- Post processing of the results
Results:
Installation on board of the torque-meter, tachometer, data acquisition system and pressure monitoring system (DOCTOR) during the voyage between two ports. As the engine was run at four different load conditions, curves were drawn in order to characterize the behavior of the main engine, as well as the speed-power curve definition of this vessel.
This type of measurements are highly cost-effective, as the results not only give the current status of the vessel’s performance, but also provides a solid basis for further optimization studies.
